Discover how to create the self motivation that gives you immense powers of accomplishment
That is another way of saying you are happiest and have the maximum self motivation when you live in alignment with your core values. What happens when you do not live in accordance with your values? You experience stress. You may experience lowered self esteem. And your self motivation tends to be a lot lower than it could be. Unfortunately, all of us are faced with experiences - at home and in the workplace - which we would rather avoid, if we could help it. Some argue that this is so because our thoughts have been given the wrong direction by society and by the media, especially television. As a result, we compromise on our values; which is to say, we compromise who we are as an individual. Two of the biggest causes of low self motivation are being in the wrong career and being in less-than-supportive relationships. Ultimately, you must return to what you hold important for yourself. That is the only way to sustain a state of self motivation and to avoid high levels of stress. There are a couple of ways you can discover your true values for self motivation. The first is by asking yourself a series of questions. Questions like:
Over a period of days or weeks, you will get a clearer idea of your core values as they relate to self motivation. The second way to discover your core values is to reflect on your behaviors. You may publicly proclaim a great many number of things, but ultimately, what you do consistently is what expresses what you really believe. That's why behavior is a surer guide to core values than what you say to others or even to yourself. Pay particular attention to situations where you are forced to make painful choices. Your actions in such circumstances will reveal a lot about you. Once you have a grasp of your core values, arrange them in order of priority, into some sort of hierarchy. Some values will be far more valuable to you than others. You will likely have a set of primary values and a number of secondary values. Now that you know your true values, you are in a position to arrange your work and actions to bring them into as close an alignment as possible with your values. When you do so, you will achieve peak states of self motivation. In fact, this is the real secret behind being self motivated.
