Easy time management tips to achieve better results in the workplace
If you master these time management tips and make them a daily habit, you will automatically find yourself living life at a higher level. As always, the key to mastery is repetition. Be determined to utilize these practices and you will see the benefits for yourself. 1. Daily goals Let's face it...despite all the mumbo-jumbo some teach about not having goals and 'going with the flow', you will find your powers of accomplishment drastically lowered if you do not have well thought out goals. Goals should cover various time frames - long term (5+ years), medium term (1-3 years) and short term (up to 1 year). For our purposes here, you may want to focus on your short term goals. Set aside a few minutes each morning (or the night before) to write out five or six key goals you are pursuing. Do this EVERY DAY. Written goals have an uncanny ability to focus your attention and bring internal resources to bear on goal achievement. Now, there may be lots of resistance within you when you do this exercise. You may, at a subconscious level, consider them unattainable or even undesirable. However, if you keep up this practice of writing down your important goals daily, you will eventually convince all parts of yourself that these goals are desirable and attainable. Keep this up for even a few weeks and prepare to be amazed at how many opportunities come your way now thanks to these time management tips! 2. Planning daily activities This is the core of all time management tips and advice. It is quite impossible to manage time well if you do not have a list of things you need to do each day. Moreover, this should be a list that follows some kind of system. See this article for a proven system for developing daily activity lists. If you stick with that, you will see results in short order. If there is one word that lies at the heart of time management tips, it is 'priorities'. The system described on that page applies your priorities to your tasks in a very specific manner. 3. Daily activity / accomplishment review This is actually built into the system mentioned above. Nevertheless, it is one of the most important time management tips you will ever come across and so it bears repetition. Every day, at the end of the work day or later at night, spend a few minutes reviewing all the activities you did that day. Compare them against your plan for the day (as laid out in your to do list.) See how much you have accomplished and give yourself a pat on the back! Also take a look at what was left undone. Think through the reasons for the slip ups. How can you best avoid them in the future? How can you do each task more effectively? Can you do them in a shorter time frame? Ask questions relevant to your situation. If you keep doing this, within a few short weeks, you will see a noticeable improvement in the way you work. Your output will go up considerably. It is impossible to devote time to review your day regularly and NOT come up with ways to improve it. Apply these simple yet profoundly effective time management tips on a daily basis. And watch your life change for the better.
